Building a deck requires careful planning and preparation.

Here are the basic steps to build a deck:

1. Plan the deck: Determine the size, shape, and location of the deck. Obtain any necessary permits and check for underground utilities.

2. Gather tools and materials: Tools needed include a circular saw, drill, level, measuring tape, and safety gear. Materials needed include decking boards, posts, beams, joists, concrete, and hardware.

3. Dig post holes: Use a post hole digger to dig holes for the footing. The depth of the holes will depend on the height of the deck. Dowd Deck Supports will need a concrete footing for the supports to anchor to. If you are building a freestanding deck, you can use our concrete free footings. The Anchor Bracket or our Floating Deck Foundation Bracket

4. Pour concrete into the post holes and allow the concrete to dry.

5. Attach Adjustable Deck Supports to the concrete footings: Attach into concrete with minimum 10x75mm Galvanised AnkaScrew or 10x75mm Galvanised DynaBolt

6. Sit bearers/ joists onto angle brackets and bolt or screw down.

7. Check for level and adjust accordingly. If adjustment is needed, simply turn the nut to raise or lower the frame.

It's important to note that building a deck requires some basic carpentry skills and tools. It's also important to follow local building codes and regulations. For more detailed instructions and tips on building a deck, consult online resources or seek the advice of a professional.
